Annie Leibovitz - Limited Edition XXL
Annie Leibovitz's coveted SUMO in unlimited edition XXL presents more than 40 years of work by the renowned photographer, from intimate reports for the magazine Rolling Stone in the 1970s, to elegant portraits for Vanity Fair and VogueThis edition includes iconic images and photos that have never or rarely been seen before.
When Benedikt Taschen asked Annie Leibovitz, the foremost portrait photographer working today, to compile her images into a SUMO-sized book, she was intrigued by the challenge.
The project took several years to develop. Finally, when it was published in 2014, the book weighed 26 kg.
This incredible collection is now available in a format XXL more accessible.
Annie Leibovitz's SUMO traces the history of pop culture, from Queen Elizabeth II to Richard Nixon, Laurie Anderson, Keith Haring and Lady Gaga.
In Leibovitz's words: “What I initially conceived as a fairly simple process of figuring out which photographs looked good and worked in large format evolved into something more. The book is very personal, but the narrative draws on popular culture. It's not ordered chronologically, and it's not a retrospective. It's more like a roller coaster.”
Fans of Leibovitz and the many pop culture themes captured in her photographs now have the chance to enjoy that same roller coaster ride with this unlimited edition.
