A novel and informative essay that dismantles many of the gender stereotypes ingrained in the world of sports.

You run like a girl. Gender and LGBTQ+ diversity in sports takes us on a journey through the present and past of the reality for women and the LGBTQ+ community in sports. A journey full of surprising, incomprehensible, unfair, and sometimes funny anecdotes, interwoven with top-level interviews and rigorous information in an engaging and innovative analysis that captivates the reader from the very first lines.

In the different chapters of the book, journalist David Guerrero analyzes the situation of football in Spain as the discipline with the greatest invisibility and verbal violence against non-normative people, points out those countries that do not respect human rights and that use sport to clean up their international image, and reminds us of the decisive role that the media plays in the correct dissemination of diversity.

Using an informative style, the author aims to dismantle deeply ingrained gender stereotypes in the world of sports while tracing the unfair and degrading history of women's sports and questioning the false myth of the competitive advantage of trans and intersex women.

To further the reflection and analysis, the book includes interviews with athletes such as Pau Ribes, a pioneer in synchronized swimming; Alba Palacios, the first transgender footballer registered in Spain; Víctor Gutiérrez, a player on the Spanish national water polo team and openly gay; Sara Peláez, a professional basketball referee and openly lesbian; and María José Martínez Patiño, an IOC expert and former intersex athlete. The foreword is written by the renowned sports journalist Paloma del Río.
