Unspeakable Chronicles It is a LGBTQ+ young adult novel Set in a town near Barcelona during the 1960s, the story follows Miguel, its young protagonist, who dreams of becoming an artist in a time when being different could be dangerous. Through art, friendship, and the discovery of desire, Miguel finds his path and his identity.
With a sensitive and emotional narrative, Javier Comas portrays a story of personal growth in a hostile environment, where human support and respect for one's own feelings become key.
The novel was recognized with the Todo Mejora Award 2024 of LGBTQ+ youth literature, awarded by Kabo-Bero Ediciones and It Gets Better Spain, for its value as a testimony of memory, diversity and resistance.
Author's biography
Javier Comas (Barcelona, 1961) is a writer, photographer, visual artist, and former dancer. His artistic career encompasses dance, photography, and contemporary art, and he has exhibited internationally. As a writer, after working in crime novels and short stories, he won the 2024 Todo Mejora Prize with this semi-autobiographical work that sheds light on the gay adolescent experience and reclaims identity through art and friendship.
