La novia de Sandro – Camila Sosa Villada
TUSQUETS
All the emotional intensity of the author of Las malas in a book of poems that has been an event in Argentina.
In Sandro's girlfriends Cabello Sosa Villada conveys all the emotional intensity of The bad ones into the realm of poetry. Through a transvestite poetic self that loves, hates, desires and is desired, the book explores the mysteries of love, the body and memory with a sensory eroticism that almost no one manages to put into words.
The poems blend joy and sorrow in each figure that appears: lovers who depart, the mother rented to another family, the weariness of the father struggling against poverty, dead friends, the lover's beloved. Amidst images of blood, plants, fireflies, and high heels, Sosa Villada constructs an intimate mythology where magic coexists with violence, and fragility becomes strength.
Celebrated as a major event in Argentina, Sandro's girlfriends confirms Cabello Sosa Villada is an author capable of translating the transvestite experience, desire, and grief into a poetic language that is both wild and delicate. This book of poems leaves a lasting impression on any reader who dares to enter its fierce beauty.
