A las cinco en el Astoria
A las cinco en el Astoria is the fifth studio album by La Oreja de Van Gogh and the first with Leire Martínez, a phase that confirmed the group's continuity without giving up their melodic pop and their narrative-style lyrics.
As a curiosity, the title refers to a very specific place in San Sebastián, the corner of the former Astoria Cinemas, a usual meeting point for the group's generation. They chose “at five o'clock” for that idea of a time when everyday stories begin that can inspire songs.
Within the album there is a piece especially linked to collective memory, Jueves, conceived as a tribute to the victims of the March 11, 2004 attacks in Madrid, and whose proceeds were linked to the 11 M Victims of Terrorism Association. The album was also a nominee at the 2009 Latin GRAMMYs.
2022 edition on colored vinyl. Release October 7, 2022.
