POP ART (Spanish Edition)
Taschen
Pop art burst onto the scene in the 1960s, shaking the foundations of what we had previously understood as "art" and "culture." That creative revolution not only challenged established tastes but also questioned consumer society, the cult of fame, and even the role of the artist himself, incorporating what had previously been considered vulgar, banal, or mainstream.
Inspired by advertising, comics, Hollywood celebrities, and even supermarket packaging (yes, Warhol's iconic Campbell's Soup cans), Pop Art didn't limit itself to glorifying these popular and kitsch images; it also embraced mass production processes and mechanized techniques like silkscreen printing. In doing so, it blurred the myth of the unique artist and questioned the value of the "original" work.
This book brings together the movement's greatest names, including Andy Warhol, Allen Jones, Ed Ruscha, Robert Indiana, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, and Roy Lichtenstein, to show you the diversity, energy, and influence of one of the most decisive movements in modern art. An essential journey that will give you a fresh look at how the tacky, the banal, and the commercial burst onto the art scene, transforming it forever.
