Our tote bag celebrates a symbol full of history and pride: the LGTBI rainbow flag. This iconic emblem was created in 1978 by Gilbert Baker, an activist and designer from San Francisco. Baker, inspired by the diversity of the rainbow, designed the flag at the request of another great activist, Harvey Milk. His mission was clear: to give the LGBTQA+ community a symbol that represented their struggle, their love, and their hope.
Originally, the flag had eight colored stripes, each with a special meaning: pink for sexuality, red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sunlight, green for nature, turquoise for magic and art, blue for serenity, and violet for spirit. Over time, and due to practical reasons (such as the lack of certain fabric colors), the most common version was simplified to six stripes, the same ones that fly worldwide today.
Each color still carries a message of love, diversity, and unity. Our tote bag is here to remind us all that inclusion, respect, and pride are the true colors that brighten our lives.
